The Scarpa XL is the undisputed pinnacle of the collection—a monumental, large-format translation of Carlo Scarpa’s 1957 vision. Scaled up to an extraordinary three-and-a-half times the size of the Original Wide format, this is not merely a surface finish; it is a profound architectural statement piece.

The defining characteristic of the XL is its breathtaking proportions. The interlocking tesserae are rendered as substantial slabs of premium natural stone, intersected by vast 30mm grout channels. At this commanding scale, the grout completely transcends its traditional role, becoming a powerful, thick graphic ribbon that locks the massive stone pieces into a rhythmic, mid-century grid.

This format is engineered specifically for vast spaces that demand a deeply textural, luxurious anchor. Whether grounding a sweeping commercial lobby, a high-end hospitality venue (as seen in our Iftar Restaurant project), or a grand residential expanse, the Scarpa XL transforms a static plane into a highly tactile, commanding focal point.

Bespoke Finishing & Stone Specification

As with our other formats, the architectural narrative of the XL is dictated by its installation. It can be traditionally grouted to celebrate the irregular, artisan-cut edges of the large stone pieces, or it can be overfilled and machine-honed in situ. At this massive scale, a honed finish creates a spectacular, monolithic terrazzo surface unlike anything else on the market.

The Scarpa XL is our most highly specialized, made-to-order offering. We have prototyped this giant format in a breathtaking array of premium stones, including the luminous Alabaster, the vibrant Taj Green, the dramatic Rojo and Sangue, as well as Silver Shadow, Bruno, and Tumbled Rosa. However, its true power lies in complete customization—we can fabricate the XL in virtually any natural stone required by your design narrative.

The Bespoke Stone Archive

Because the Scarpa XL is a custom commission, it can be fabricated in virtually any premium natural stone from our archive to suit your specific architectural narrative:

• Alabaster: A luminous, sophisticated white stone that brings a striking, cloud-like lightness to the heavy geometric grid.

• Taj Green: A vibrant, highly crystalline quartzite featuring deep emerald and pale jade striations. A dramatic, botanical anchor for a room.

• Rojo & Sangue: Uncompromising, deep red and burgundy marbles with striking white veining. These stones offer an opulent, historical weight.

• Ivory Travertino: The definitive warm neutral. It highlights the sun-bleached, porous texture of classic Roman antiquity, bathing a space in soft warmth.

• Silver Shadow: A disciplined, moody grey canvas swept with fluid silvery movement, perfect for contemporary, high-contrast spaces.
